Zamp, a Miami-based fully managed sales tax compliance platform, has raised $17M in new funding, bringing total capital to $30M. The company combines AI-powered software with expert tax professionals to handle calculations, registrations, filings, notices for US sales tax and global VAT/GST. The capital will scale its Zamp OS globally and expand the accounting channel.

Compliance Burdens Escalate in 2026

The funding arrives amid surging regulatory changes, with a record number of sales tax rate and rule updates in 2025 signaling tougher compliance ahead per Avalara's report. TaxJar recently announced price increases for 2026, highlighting cost pressures in the space. Zamp's managed model addresses these by owning end-to-end execution, including liability for errors.

SMBs Face Mounting Tax Complexity

Post-Wayfair economic nexus now applies in 45+ states, expanding obligations for e-commerce and SaaS firms. Frequent jurisdiction-specific changes, like New York's quirky shipping rules, overwhelm in-house teams lacking expertise. Current software solutions often shift risk to users, leading to audit risks and penalties.

AI Agents Empower Tax Experts

Zamp OS integrates AI agents with human professionals across 12,000+ jurisdictions, delivering 99.97% accuracy. Unlike pure automation tools, it guarantees penalties if wrong and handles notices and audits. The platform supports 30+ integrations including NetSuite, QuickBooks, and Shopify for seamless workflows.

Vertical Stack Owns Compliance Outcomes

As CEO Rohit Bhadange noted:

"Three years ago we were only a managed service. Today, we’re an operating system with AI agents running end-to-end workflows."

This evolution has powered $400M in sales tax remitted, 100K+ on-time filings, and 75K+ notices handled for 1,200+ teams.

Strategic Investors Back Global Scale

Acrew Capital led the latest round, joined by Thomson Reuters Ventures and accounting partners. Thomson Reuters' participation validates Zamp's data layer and AI precision for tax pros. The backers signal conviction in managed services amid an accountant retirement crisis, with 75% retiring in 15 years.

Tax Software Market Doubles by 2035

The sales tax and VAT compliance software market stands at $9.06B in 2026, projected to reach $20.74B by 2035 at 9.5% CAGR per Business Research Insights. Incumbents like Avalara push AI compliance at events like NEXT 2026. Zamp carves a niche in managed services for SMBs, differentiating via expert oversight and fixed pricing.

Ex-TaxJar Leaders Build Precision Platform

COO Clete Werts brings 10+ years from TaxJar (Stripe-acquired) and Avalara (Vista-acquired for $8.4B). Multiple team members hail from these firms, providing intimate knowledge of compliance pitfalls. CEO Rohit Bhadange, UPenn alum, has raised $30M in three years while pivoting from fintech roots.

AI Expansion Targets Accounting Firms

Zamp plans to scale AI agents and integrations for 100+ countries, focusing on accounting firms via white-label Z-Tax. Recent Intuit Silver Partner status and NetSuite native integration enable enterprise adoption. Aggressive hiring in engineering, sales, and ops supports this global push.
