Warren Raises €10M Seed for Transparent Workplace Pensions

Warren raised €10M seed led by Motive Partners for its ETF-based pension fund and AI coaching platform replacing traditional group insurance in Belgium.

Warren (warren.eu), a Ghent, Belgium-based FinTech replacing traditional group insurance with transparent ETF-based pension funds paired with AI financial coaching, has raised €10 million in Seed funding led by Motive Partners' venture arm. The capital will fund scaling to 100,000 employees on platform by 2028 and entry into 1-2 larger European markets.

Regulatory Reset Forces Pension Switch

The timing aligns with Belgian legislative changes resetting minimum returns on occupational pensions above what legacy Branch 21 products can deliver. Xaver raised €5M Pre-Seed in March 2024. Warren's full-stack IORP license and direct employer channel address the compliance imperative that platform layers cannot.

Pension Gap Leaves Workers Unprepared

Median supplementary pension reserves for Belgian employees aged 56-65 stand below €10,000. Belgium's second-pillar reserves represent less than one-fifth of GDP, compared to Australia's system where pension capital reaches roughly twice GDP. Traditional products charging 2-3% annual AUM fees quietly erode returns over decades.

Full-Stack License + AI Coaching

Warren secured Belgium's first startup IORP pension license within six months of incorporation and pairs the fund with an AI coach drawing on PSD2 bank data, salary records, and MyPension.be information. Employers pay a flat subscription fee with no entry, exit, or AUM charges.

As CEO Cedric De Vleeschauwer noted:

"The vast majority of Belgians save for their retirement in financial products that erode their purchasing power year after year."

Mission Capital Validates Thesis

Motive Partners led both the pre-seed and seed rounds, doubling down after Warren was pre-revenue, pre-product, and pre-license. The investor's conviction stems from the regulatory inflection, defensible data layer, and passportable IORP II license enabling EU expansion.

European Pensions Face Structural Shift

The European pension funding industry stands at €517.9 billion. With IORP II passporting available, Warren targets 100,000 employees by 2028 while hiring approximately 30 additional staff beyond its current 25.

Ex-Alan Team Brings Regulated Scaling Playbook

Founders include Cedric De Vleeschauwer who scaled Alan Belgium from zero and CCO David Du Pré who led its international B2B sales. The team applies the same regulated-market disruption playbook to pensions.

What's Next

With several thousand members already onboarded and zero logo churn, Warren plans to reach 100,000 employees in Belgium by 2028, launch into 1-2 larger European markets, and expand hiring across engineering, sales, and operations roles.
