The round was led by The Footprint Firm with participation from node.vc, bringing total capital including grants to €6 million. VajaTrack uses patented passive feathering mechanics to reduce wind loads by over 80%, enabling cost-efficient vertical tracking that delivers 25-35% higher energy production than fixed panels.
Vertical Trackers Target High-Latitude Markets
The timing aligns with accelerating solar deployment in Europe and North America, where most land sits above 30° latitude. Nextracker raised $42.6 million pre-IPO before going public. Array Technologies secured $345 million in June 2025. Vaja differentiates by focusing on vertical designs that maintain efficiency in northern regions where horizontal trackers lose performance.
Wind Loads Block Vertical Tracking
Horizontal single-axis trackers dominate near the equator but lose output at higher latitudes. Vertical tracking historically required expensive reinforcement against wind, making it four times costlier. Vaja's system addresses this through passive feathering that cuts maximum wind loads by more than 80% without active controls.
Passive Feathering Unlocks New Geographies
VajaTrack mounts panels vertically and follows the sun using a centralized drive system where one motor powers multiple units. The design generates extra energy during morning, evening, and winter periods when electricity prices peak. This produces 25-35% more output and 30-40% higher revenue than fixed mounts.
As Henrik Eskilsson, CEO, stated:

Climate Fund Backs High-Latitude Solar
The Footprint Firm led the round from its new €76 million climate tech fund. The investor cited the need for solutions to genuinely hard problems in the energy transition. node.vc, a repeat backer from Vaja's pre-seed, also participated. The funding supports product launch, customer installations, and team expansion.
Solar Tracker Market Expands Rapidly
The global solar tracker market stands at $12.80 billion in 2026 and is projected to reach $40.70 billion by 2034, growing at 15.56% CAGR. Europe's segment is expanding faster at 21.95% CAGR toward $16.08 billion by 2031. Key drivers include bifacial module adoption, utility-scale buildout, and time-of-day pricing that rewards flatter production curves.
Competitors such as Soltec and Next2Sun focus on horizontal or fixed vertical approaches. Vaja's vertical tracking with wind-responsive mechanics targets the underserved high-latitude segment.
Serial Founders Bring Hardware Expertise
CEO Henrik Eskilsson previously co-founded Tobii, scaling it to over 1,000 employees and a Nasdaq listing. Co-founder Anders Olsson pioneered residential solar in Sweden through Soldags. The team includes PhD-level engineers specializing in aeroelasticity and fluid dynamics, validated through 5,000 hours of testing and supercomputer simulations.
