Trustap, a Cork-based end-to-end transaction platform for marketplaces and ecommerce, has raised $10 million in funding led by Aperture Capital. The platform handles payments, fulfilment, dispute management, seller verification, buyer protection, fraud prevention and identity checks in a single integration. The capital will support product development, team expansion and the launch of Trustap Index.
Agentic Commerce Funding Aligns With AI Shift
The timing comes amid growing demand for secure transaction layers in AI-driven shopping. Trustap's approach — specialized digital escrow with active fraud detection and human confirmation — addresses gaps left by standard payment processors for marketplace and P2P transactions.
Digital Escrow Market Expands Rapidly
Digital escrow platforms were valued at $415.3 million in 2025 and are projected to reach $26.4 billion by 2033 at a 14.3-14.9% CAGR. Marketplaces lose up to 30% of revenue to platform leakage, while one in three adults in Ireland have been victims of fraud. Current solutions often require fragmented tool stacks that increase costs and operational burden.
Trustap Index Enables AI Transactions
Trustap built an all-in-one stack that consolidates payments, fraud prevention and disputes. Trustap Index transforms fragmented inventory listings into machine-readable data so AI agents can discover, negotiate and transact while funds remain secured until human confirmation. This differs from broader platforms like Stripe Connect or Adyen for Platforms, which focus on developer APIs and global acquiring rather than specialized escrow protection for non-technical sellers.
As Conor Lyden, founder and CEO, noted:
"This funding gives us the runway to ensure that when an AI agent shops anywhere on the internet, it can find the listing, verify the seller and complete the payment securely through infrastructure it can rely on."
Aperture Capital Backs AI Pivot
Aperture Capital led the internal round with participation from TX Ventures and existing investors. Aperture's focus on B2B fintech, embedded finance and AI infrastructure aligns directly with Trustap's shift toward agentic commerce. The firm brings operational expertise from prior exits including Metaco for $250 million.
Marketplace Payments Sector Scales
The broader digital payments market stands at $150 billion with 9.5% CAGR. Competitors include Mangopay, which raised $82 million before its 2022 acquisition, alongside public players Adyen and PayPal. Trustap differentiates through its neutral escrow model and motors vertical focus alongside general marketplaces.
Expansion Through Partnerships and Hiring
Trustap recently integrated with Dealer.com for vehicle reservations and launched on the DealerOn App Marketplace, reaching thousands of additional dealerships. The company is hiring AI-focused engineers in Zagreb and sales roles in the US, supporting growth in automotive and marketplace segments.
