Thunder Gold Raises $2.5M Private Placement for Gold Drilling

Thunder Gold raised $2.5M non-brokered private placement led by a strategic investor for Tower Mountain gold property drilling. Infrastructure edge and low costs differentiate amid junior mining boom.

Thunder Gold, an Ontario-based junior gold exploration company, has raised $2.5 million in a non-brokered private placement led by a strategic investor. The company focuses on advancing its flagship Tower Mountain gold property, which hosts a 3.5 million ounce Au resource (Indicated: 514 koz at 0.46 g/t; Inferred: 3.053 Moz at 0.45 g/t). The capital will fund exploration and definition drilling to convert inferred resources to indicated ahead of an updated Mineral Resource Estimate and Scoping Study in Q4 2026.

Junior Miners Surge on TSX Venture

The raise aligns with a mining sector boom on the TSX Venture 50, where 48 mining companies achieved a $19.9 billion market cap surge and 443% average share price gains as of February 2026. Regional peer Gold X2 Mining closed a $43 million private placement first tranche in February 2026 to advance its nearby Moss project. AuMEGA Metals announced a $30 million financing in the same space on February 18, 2026. Thunder Gold's low-cost approach differentiates it in this heated Ontario gold belt.

Vast Inferred Resources Stall Progress

Tower Mountain's maiden Mineral Resource Estimate from January 2026 totals 3.5 Moz Au, but 87% remains in the lower-confidence inferred category. This limits current valuation despite 47,000 meters of historical drilling. High gold prices above $2,600/oz pressure juniors to de-risk via infill drilling, yet remote projects face logistics hurdles. Thunder Gold benefits from site advantages that cut these barriers.

Infrastructure Cuts Development Costs

Located 40 km from Thunder Bay with highway, rail, and hydro access, Tower Mountain boasts drilling costs under C$275 per meter and an all-in discovery cost of C$3.95 per ounce. Metallurgical recoveries average 85%, reaching up to 94.9%. The open-pit potential features a low 1.8:1 strip ratio. These efficiencies position it ahead of peers like Gold X2 Mining, which lacks comparable infrastructure proximity.

As Wes C. Hanson, President and CEO, noted:

"This Offering allows us to advance the Tower Mountain property through rapid conversion of the inferred resource to the measured and indicated category in advance of an updated Mineral Resource Estimate and initial Scoping Study in Q4, 2026."

Strategic Backing Signals Confidence

The unnamed strategic investor's lead underscores sector conviction in Tower Mountain's tier-1 potential amid record gold prices. This follows a $2.15 million flow-through private placement closed in December 2025. Such mission-focused capital supports 80% allocation to exploration, emphasizing capital discipline over generalist VC plays.

$218B Gold Market Targets Juniors

The global gold mining market stands at $218 billion in 2026, projected to reach $285 billion by 2034 at a 3% CAGR per Straits Research. Gold exploration budgets rose 11% to $6.15 billion, driven by central bank buys and geopolitical risks. Ontario's greenstone belts attract capital, with juniors like Goldshore Resources securing over $100 million historically. Structural shifts favor infrastructure-rich projects like Tower Mountain.

Noront Veteran Drives Execution

CEO Wes C. Hanson brings 40+ years, including leading Noront Resources where he established Ring of Fire reserves and raised C$75 million before its 2022 acquisition. CFO David Speck, a CFA, handled RTOs for TSX-listed miners. This team's operational expertise de-risks the path from 3.5 Moz to a targeted 5 Moz resource.

20km Drilling Eyes Resource Upgrade

Funds enable a 20,000-meter 2026 program for resource expansion and conversion. Plans include environmental baseline studies supporting a Q1 2027 Preliminary Economic Assessment. Recent NI 43-101 technical report filing solidifies compliance. These milestones aim to unlock 12 Moz potential across undrilled targets.
