Silicon Data, a Wilmington, DE-based data intelligence platform for the AI economy, has raised $30.5 million in Series A funding led by Valor Atreides AI Fund. The platform delivers real-time GPU pricing indices, performance benchmarks, and forward curves distributed on Bloomberg and Refinitiv terminals. The capital will expand benchmark pricing, performance measurement through SiliconMark, institutional market data, and risk infrastructure for derivatives.
Compute Futures Market Takes Shape
The timing aligns with structural shifts in AI infrastructure. CME Group plans to launch cash-settled GPU futures contracts in October 2026 using Silicon Data's H100 and B200 rental indices as reference prices, pending regulatory review. This marks the first time a major derivatives exchange has adopted benchmarks for compute pricing.
GPU Price Opacity Creates Market Friction
GPU rental markets currently lack standardized pricing, forcing buyers and sellers to navigate fragmented data across 100+ platforms in 40+ countries. Silicon Data processes over 150,000 verified price records daily, highlighting the scale of daily transactions without transparent benchmarks. SpaceX cited Silicon Data's median H100 rate of $3.33 per hour to estimate a $2.4 trillion AI compute infrastructure opportunity in its SEC S-1 filing.
Indices Built to Financial Standards
Silicon Data's products include daily GPU rental price indices for H100, H200, A100, B200, and MI300X models, a 36-month GPU forward curve, SiliconMark performance benchmarking, and SiliconSiteIQ for data center capacity planning. These tools differ from ad-hoc cloud pricing APIs by meeting financial-index standards, enabling swaps, futures, and risk management.
As CEO Carmen Li noted on Bloomberg Open Interest:
"Price volatility isn't a nuisance. It's a risk the whole market, from hyperscalers to banks, needs a way to hedge."
Strategic Investors Signal Sector Conviction
The round drew participation from CME Ventures, DRW, F-Prime, Samsung Next, VanEck, Jump Trading, Wintermute, and others. This mix of exchange operators, quant trading firms, hardware manufacturers, and asset managers validates compute as an emerging asset class requiring dedicated financial infrastructure.
GPU Market Growth Fuels Infrastructure Demand
WatersTechnology reports the GPU market stands at $65 billion today and projects growth to $300 billion by 2029. Silicon Data's indices now underpin planned CME futures, positioning the company at the intersection of AI hardware demand and regulated derivatives markets. The company has raised approximately $35.2 million total including its $4.7 million seed round from March 2025.
Carmen Li Brings Quant Trading Lens
Founder and CEO Carmen Li previously built Compute Exchange, a marketplace for compute trading. Her background informs the company's focus on turning opaque GPU costs into measurable, hedgeable instruments.
Engineering Hires and October Futures Launch Ahead
Silicon Data is hiring backend, frontend, and DevOps engineers while preparing for the CME futures listing on October 5, 2026. The Series A is described as an initial closing with potential for additional participants.
