Qureight Raises $20M Series B for Lung Imaging CRO

Qureight raised $20M Series B led by Molten Ventures for its AI-powered imaging CRO serving lung and heart disease trials. The funds will build a 3D chest imaging Foundation Model laboratory.

Qureight, a Cambridge UK-based AI-powered imaging CRO for lung and heart disease clinical trials, has raised $20 million in Series B funding led by Molten Ventures. The platform delivers enterprise-grade imaging management, quantitative biomarker analysis via deep learning models such as Lung8 and Vascul8, and real-world data integration for biopharma sponsors. The capital will expand the 3D deep learning portfolio and establish an AI imaging laboratory to house a 3D chest imaging Foundation Model.

AI Imaging Demand Accelerates Trials

The timing aligns with surging investment in respiratory drug development. Brainomix raised $25.4M Series C in 2025-2026, while broader AI clinical trial platforms attract hundreds of millions. Qureight's compartment-specific biomarkers address a gap where traditional endpoints like FVC miss multi-compartment disease dynamics in IPF and pulmonary hypertension.

Subjective Reads Slow Drug Development

Current imaging analysis in trials relies on visual reads that lack reproducibility. Lung and heart diseases drive four of the top five causes of death worldwide, yet trial markets for these conditions exceed all cancers combined. Sponsors face high failure rates when coarse endpoints fail to capture structural changes across vasculature, airways, fibrosis, and inflammation compartments.

Multi-Compartment Biomarkers Differentiate Platform

Qureight built five deep-learning models that quantify distinct lung compartments from standard CT scans with 98.4% analysis success. Unlike generalist imaging software, the regulated GxP-compliant platform also generates synthetic control arms from large real-world IPF and PH datasets. A published case study with Endeavor BioMedicines showed Vascul8 detecting statistically significant vascular volume reduction (p=0.0007) over 12 weeks.

"The industry is measuring the wrong things in fibrotic lung diseases."

As Dr Muhunthan Thillai, CEO, noted:

"Expanding our 3D imaging deep learning models with our new AI laboratory will complement our existing dominance in lung fibrosis, allow us to enter new markets, and solidify our leadership position in the lung and heart imaging CRO market."

Molten Ventures Leads Healthtech Bet

Molten Ventures led the round with participation from Hargreave Hale AIM VCT, XTX Ventures, Guinness Ventures, Meltwind, and Ascension. The syndicate brings AI expertise from XTX Markets and life-sciences credibility from Meltwind founder Jonathan Milner of Abcam. Returning investors signal sustained conviction in the clinical data curation approach.

Clinical Trial Imaging Market Expands

The global clinical trial imaging market is projected to grow from $1.35B in 2025 to $1.91B in 2030 at 7.8% CAGR, according to Grand View Research. AI in medical imaging is forecast to reach $8.23B-$20.2B by 2033 at 30.7% CAGR per Mordor Intelligence. Qureight's expansion into asthma, pulmonary hypertension, bronchiectasis, and drug-induced lung toxicity positions it at the intersection of these growth vectors.

Practicing Pulmonologist Leads Clinical Focus

CEO and co-founder Dr Muhunthan Thillai is a practicing pulmonologist and former Director of Interstitial Lung Diseases at Royal Papworth and Addenbrooke's Hospitals. The company recently appointed a seven-member Pulmonary Hypertension Scientific Advisory Board including Professors Marc Humbert, Steven Nathan, and Vincent Cottin, lending immediate domain credibility for new therapeutic areas.

AI Laboratory and New Disease Models Next

With deployments supporting Phase 2 trials at Mediar Therapeutics and Calluna Pharma, Qureight will use the funding to construct the AI imaging laboratory and accelerate development of the 3D chest Foundation Model, enabling faster entry into asthma and pulmonary hypertension.
