Quantum Systems Raises $1.2B Series D for Multi-Domain Systems

Quantum Systems raised $1.2B Series D led by Blackstone, Noteus, Airbus and Advent for multi-domain autonomous defense systems at $8B valuation.

Quantum Systems, a Germany-based developer of fully autonomous uncrewed aerial systems and multi-domain autonomous platforms, has raised $1.2 billion in Series D funding co-led by Blackstone, Noteus, Airbus and Advent at an $8 billion valuation. The company produces eVTOL drones like Vector AI and software platform MOSAIC UXS for defense and security operations. The capital will scale production and expand globally across air, land, and sea domains.

Defense Tech Capital Surge Accelerates

The timing comes amid record defense tech funding: Anduril Industries raised $5B Series H in May 2026, while Shield AI secured $1.5B Series G in March 2026. Quantum Systems' approach — building interoperable air, land, and sea systems under one software backbone — addresses Europe's need for sovereign alternatives to U.S. and Chinese suppliers.

Ukraine Combat Data Drives Procurement

Over 19,000 missions executed in Ukraine in 2025 alone demonstrate the operational edge. Current solutions from legacy primes face pressure as agile, AI-powered platforms prove faster to iterate in contested environments.

Multi-Domain Family of Systems

Quantum Systems has transitioned from individual drones to a Family of Systems connected through MOSAIC UXS. This differentiates from competitors like Skydio, which focuses on U.S. manufacturing for public safety, or AeroVironment's loitering munitions focus.

As co-CEO Sven Kruck noted:

"The financing reflects the rapid transformation of Europe's defence sector over the past two years, as investors increasingly back drone, software and autonomous systems companies."

Investor Mix Signals Sector Conviction

Co-led by private equity (Blackstone, Advent) and strategic (Airbus), alongside defense tech specialist Noteus, the round validates the shift toward software-defined autonomous systems.

Military Drone Market Expands Rapidly

The military drone market is projected to grow from $34.85 billion in 2026 to $109.22 billion by 2031, per MarketsandMarkets. Named competitors include Anduril at $61B valuation after its May round, Shield AI at $12.7B post-March funding, and Skydio at $4.4B after its April raise.
