Native Raises $42M Series A for Multi-Cloud Controls

Native, a Seattle-based platform for operationalizing built-in cloud security controls across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and OCI, has raised $42M in total funding, including a $31M Series A led by Ballistic Ventures. The platform translates security outcomes defined in natural language into provider-native enforcement like SCPs and IAM policies. The capital will double headcount from 41 to around 90 employees.

AI Threats Accelerate Preventive Demand

The funding emerges amid AI-driven threats where time-to-exploit has fallen to negative one day, per Mandiant data cited by investors. Recent activity includes Mitiga raising $30M Series B. Native's focus on preventive enforcement using native controls addresses gaps in detection-heavy approaches from incumbents like Wiz ($1.9B raised) and Orca Security ($640M raised).

Policy Explosion Burdens Multi-Cloud Teams

Enterprises using 2-4 cloud providers face exploding complexity, with clouds releasing 500+ security features annually. A single intent like isolating AI training environments requires ~80 Azure policies. Current solutions rely on scanning or agents, leaving enforcement siloed and manual.

Intent-Driven Policies Unify Enforcement

Native provides a unified control plane that defines outcomes in structured natural language, simulates impacts pre-deployment, and enforces via native mechanisms without agents or overlays. This covers policy domains like data perimeter, AI governance, and least privilege across four clouds. Unlike Wiz's graph-based scanning or Orca's side-scanning, Native operationalizes built-in services like GuardDuty and Defender.

As CEO Amit Megiddo explained:

"Cloud providers invest heavily in security controls. The irony is that most enterprises struggle to use them effectively, especially across multiple clouds."

Simulation Enables Safe Architecture Shifts

Pre-deployment impact analysis previews blast radius, preventing surprises in dynamic environments. Customers including Fortune 100 streaming services and chip manufacturers use it as a Tier-1 platform. Available on AWS and Google Cloud Marketplaces, it shifts security from reactive detection to proactive operations.

Cyber VCs Back Native Security Shift

Ballistic Ventures led the Series A, with General Catalyst, YL Ventures, and Merlin Ventures participating. Ballistic's portfolio includes cloud security like Gomboc AI and exits like Talon to Palo Alto Networks. This cyber-focused syndicate signals conviction in secure-by-design amid multi-cloud growth.

Phil Venables, ex-Google Cloud CISO joining the board, noted:

"Cloud security is entering a new era where the unit of work is not ‘finding’ problems, it’s safely enforcing the right architecture at speed."

Cloud Security Scales to $133B

The cloud security market stands at $46.16B in 2026, projected to reach $133.39B by 2035 at 12.57% CAGR per Precedence Research. Competitors like Sysdig Secure ($750M raised) focus on runtime, while Prisma Cloud stitches acquisitions. Native targets the shift to agentless preventive controls for AI workloads and regulations like FedRAMP.

AWS Alumni Lead Cloud Expertise

Founders include CEO Amit Megiddo (ex-AWS GuardDuty lead, Harvard MBA), CPO Gal Ordo (ex-AWS Security Hub, IDF Unit 81), and CTO Eyal Faingold (ex-Check Point VP Cloud Security, Dome9 exit to Check Point). This team from native AWS tools and competitors brings direct multi-cloud operational experience.

Headcount Doubles for Enterprise Push

With 41 employees split between Seattle and Tel Aviv, Native plans to expand to 90, hiring in engineering, sales, marketing, and AI/ML roles. Fortune 100 traction and events like RSAC and AWS re:Invent position it for national scaling via partnerships.
