memQ, a Chicago-based developer of extensible quantum network architecture, has raised $10M in Series A funding co-led by Quantonation and Ocean Azul Partners. The company's xQNA platform connects quantum processing units across chips to data centers using commercial silicon photonics and telecom infrastructure. The capital will accelerate full 300mm wafer production, second-generation quantum control chips, and team expansion.

Quantum Networking Market Heats Up

memQ's raise follows a surge in quantum infrastructure funding, with IQM Quantum Computers securing $57M from BlackRock just one day prior. Qunnect has raised $22.5M for quantum repeaters, while ORCA Computing secured $25M for photonic quantum memory. memQ differentiates through qubit-agnostic design compatible with diverse QPU modalities and telecom C-band, leveraging commercial foundries to cut costs.

Single-Chip QPU Limits Exposed

Current quantum computers face scaling barriers as qubit counts exceed single-chip capacities, necessitating networked clusters for fault-tolerant computing. Classical networks destroy fragile quantum states, blocking modular architectures like those in HPC. Distributed systems require entanglement preservation over distances, a gap memQ targets with photon-mediated links.

Silicon Photonics Unlocks Scalability

memQ's xQNA includes QNICs to convert matter qubits to photons, QMMs for stable rare-earth qubit storage, QCS for photon routing, and xDQC for workload orchestration on NVIDIA CUDA-Q.
