Malachyte raised $10M seed led by Bessemer and Gradient for real-time behavior intelligence personalization in ecommerce. It solves cold-start for anonymous visitors using Spotify-grade Vector AI.

Malachyte, a New York-based real-time behavior intelligence personalization engine for e-commerce, has raised $10M in seed funding co-led by Bessemer Venture Partners and Gradient Ventures. The platform uses continuous-learning Vector AI to build live behavioral profiles for every visitor from the first click without requiring login, cookies, or purchase history. The capital will support team expansion and deeper Shopify integration.

Spotify-Grade AI Enters Ecommerce

The timing aligns with surging investment in AI-driven commerce tools. Bloomreach has raised approximately $927M, Constructor secured over $85M, and Insider One raised around $772M. Malachyte's approach addresses gaps in real-time session adaptation that legacy batch systems overlook.

Cold Start Problem Costs Retailers Revenue

Roughly 50% of e-commerce visitors are first-time users with no history. Legacy systems fail to personalize for them, leading to generic experiences. Malachyte cites 15% of site searches returning zero results and 68% of visitors leaving after such pages. 71% of consumers expect personalization yet most sites deliver static pages to anonymous traffic.

Two-Headed Vector AI Adapts in Session

Malachyte's two-headed architecture combines a slow head for contextual taste profiles with a fast head for in-session signals like hovers and scrolls. This enables sub-200ms responses and personalization from the first page load. Unlike competitors relying on historical purchases, it works for completely anonymous visitors.

"Our system starts forming before the first click, using the context available the moment the page loads. Within a single session, we build a real read on both preferences and what someone is trying to accomplish right now." — Sidd Motwani, CEO

Bessemer and Gradient Back AI Commerce Bet

Bessemer Venture Partners and Gradient Ventures (Google's AI fund) co-led the round with Harpoon Ventures participating. The investors see convergence toward agentic commerce where real-time intent detection becomes essential. The funding follows platform validation with customers including FUN.com, BRUNT Workwear, and Jordan Craig.

Ecommerce Personalization Market Scales Rapidly

The AI in e-commerce market stood at $9.70B in 2026 and is projected to reach $47.87B by 2033. The e-commerce personalization platform market is expected to grow from $4.2B to $12.8B. Q1 2026 VC funding saw 81% directed to AI, reflecting structural conviction in the space.

Ex-Spotify Team Brings Proven Scale

Founders Sidd Motwani, Ian Anderson, and Shivaditya Sinha previously built Vector AI at Spotify, powering approximately 90% of recommendations for 800M+ users. Ian Anderson led teams of 100+ as Staff ML Engineer and chaired Spotify's AI Advisory Board. The team's experience from Spotify, Priceline, and Google underpins the technical differentiation.
