CurifyLabs Raises $14M Series A for Pharmacy Compounding

CurifyLabs raised $14M Series A co-led by Sandwater and HealthCap to expand its end-to-end pharmacy compounding automation platform across the US.

CurifyLabs, a Finland-based company automating non-sterile compounding of personalized medicines, has raised $14M in Series A funding co-led by Sandwater and HealthCap. Its Compounding System Solution combines GMP-manufactured excipient bases, PharmaPrinter robotics, quality control, and compliance software to deliver up to 9x faster compounding than manual processes. The capital will expand US operations, strengthen supply chain, and advance R&D.

Pharmacy Automation Gains Momentum

The timing aligns with regulatory pressure and labor shortages pushing compounding pharmacies toward automation. Aprecia Pharmaceuticals raised $176M across 11 rounds for large-scale 3D-printed drug manufacturing, while Triastek secured over $103M for centralized production. CurifyLabs differentiates by targeting point-of-care pharmacy compounding with an end-to-end system built for USP <795> and <800> compliance.

Manual Dosing Risks Drive Demand

Traditional compounding and tablet splitting introduce significant variability. A Mayo Clinic study published in Pharmaceutics found manually split quarters varied from 25% to 143% of the labeled dose for low-dose metoprolol, while 3D-printed tablets achieved 90–103% mean API content with standard deviation under 5%. Pharmacies compound thousands of doses daily, often for pediatric, geriatric, and oncology patients requiring precise personalization.

End-to-End System Targets Pharmacy Workflow

CurifyLabs built the only full Compounding System Solution integrating hardware, CuraBlend excipient bases, validated formulation library, digital batch records, and in-process QC. Unlike FABRX's research-focused standalone printers or Multiply Labs' industrial-scale systems for cell therapies, CurifyLabs delivers a pharmacy-counter-ready platform with ISO 13485 certification and 21 CFR Part 11 compliance.

Sandwater and HealthCap led the round, with participation from Tesi and Lifeline Ventures plus US customers and employees. HealthCap's track record backing 136 life sciences companies signals strong sector conviction in decentralized manufacturing. The investment follows CurifyLabs' prior $2M commitment to its Jacksonville, Florida headquarters.
