CodeRabbit, a San Francisco and Bengaluru-based platform for AI-powered code reviews, has raised $143M in Series C funding at a $1.5B valuation. The company provides automated pull request reviews, triage, explainability tools, and security monitoring for code changes from both humans and AI agents. The capital will accelerate product development for agentic workflows and fund international expansion.
Agentic Code Floods Review Pipelines
The timing comes amid surging AI-generated code volumes. Greptile raised $30M in September 2025, while Qodo secured $121M across multiple rounds through March 2026. CodeRabbit's approach focuses on context-aware, multi-model reviews that address the judgment bottleneck created when agents produce 68% more issues per PR than human code.
Trust Gap Widens With AI Code
Only 29% of developers trust AI output, yet 41% of new code is now AI-generated. AI-assisted PRs average 10.83 issues each versus 6.45 for human-authored code. Existing pattern-based scanners miss logic flaws and cross-browser incompatibilities, as shown when CodeRabbit prevented up to €100K in potential impact at Trivago by catching a single compatibility issue.
From Review Tool to Control Layer
CodeRabbit built an ensemble-of-models system that routes tasks across NVIDIA Nemotron, Claude, and GPT models for higher precision and recall. It introduced Change Stack for layer-by-layer diff navigation and post-merge actions that automate changelogs and tickets. This differs from IDE-locked tools like Cursor BugBot or ecosystem-native options like GitHub Copilot by remaining platform-agnostic across GitHub, GitLab, and multiple IDEs.
As CEO Harjot Gill noted:
"There is massive pull in the market right now for a product like this. It's almost like a land grab moment for us."
Mission Capital Validates Control Thesis
Atomico and Smash Capital co-led the round, with participation from BMW i Ventures and Datadog. Atomico Partner Luca Eisenstecken joined the board. The investor mix signals conviction in independent governance layers for agentic development rather than pure growth capital.
AI Code Review Market Accelerates
The AI code tools market stands at $7.34B in 2025 and is projected to reach $29B+ at 26.05% CAGR. The pure-play AI code review segment grew from $180M ARR in 2025 to $420M in 2026. Graphite raised $81M before its acquisition by Cursor. Consolidation among larger players leaves room for independent leaders focused on comprehensive coverage.
Europe and Asia Expansion Underway
CodeRabbit opened a London office with 50 employees and plans to double its European headcount while entering Japan and Singapore. It also committed more than $10M to keep AI code review free for open source projects over the next year.
