BrandRank.AI, a Cincinnati-based SaaS platform that tracks how brands appear across AI answer engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, has raised $3 million in Series Seed funding co-led by Grit Capital Partners and QCA Ventures. The platform runs daily tests on priority queries to measure AI search visibility, brand vulnerability, and content readiness for enterprise clients including Nestlé, Procter & Gamble, and Fifth Third Bank. The capital will support expansion of enterprise capabilities and accuracy verification features.

AI Discovery Displaces Traditional Search

The timing aligns with rapid adoption of AI answer engines. Peec AI raised $29.1M total across seed and Series A rounds, while Profound secured $155M+ total including a $96M Series C. BrandRank.AI's focus on trust and recommendation metrics rather than raw visibility addresses a gap as brands shift from SEO tactics to managing AI-generated narratives.

Brands Lose Control Over AI Portrayals

Enterprise teams face a structural problem: AI platforms now field billions of prompts daily, yet most brands lack visibility into how models represent them. Traditional SEO tools optimize for search rankings that no longer drive the same traffic. Current solutions fall short because they track mentions without assessing accuracy, sentiment, or recommendation strength in the outputs consumers actually see.

Human Expertise Meets Daily AI Audits

BrandRank.AI combines automated daily prompt testing across seven engines with human-in-the-loop analysis drawn from founders' experience at Nestlé and P&G. The platform scores Visibility, Vulnerability, and Readiness while delivering competitive benchmarking. This differs from pure automation approaches at competitors by incorporating strategic interpretation and partnerships like the one with Burke Inc. for research-backed diagnostics.

"Search rewarded the brands that could be found. The Answer Economy will reward the brands that deserve to be believed." — Pete Blackshaw, Co-Founder & CEO

Mission Capital Validates Answer Economy Thesis

Grit Capital Partners, which has delivered over $1B in exit value from applied AI and martech investments, co-led the round alongside QCA Ventures. The participation signals conviction in the shift from keyword search to prompt-based research. SideCar Angels joined as a co-investor, bringing Boston-area syndication.

AEO Market Expands Amid Category Creation

The combined answer engine optimization and generative engine optimization market sits at approximately $1.1B-$1.3B in 2026 with 40-60% CAGR projected through 2034, according to Dimension Market Research and MarketIntelo reports. Named competitors include HubSpot's bolt-on AEO features and Otterly.AI's basic monitoring, though BrandRank.AI positions itself through trust scoring and strategic depth rather than volume of funding or broad platform scale.

Ex-Nestlé and P&G Leaders Build Category

Co-founders Pete Blackshaw, former Global Head of Digital at Nestlé and P&G brand manager, and Hank Hudepohl, ex-TripAdvisor growth leader, bring domain expertise in consumer trust and product strategy. Their background enables the company to frame AI visibility as a governance and reputation issue rather than a tactical marketing project.

The round brings Paul Palmieri of Grit and Jack Wyant of QCA onto the board, adding operational and regional expertise.
