Ambrook Raises $30M Series B for Real Economy Accounting

Ambrook, a platform providing accounting, payments, invoicing, and inventory tools purpose-built for family-run businesses in agriculture and other real economy sectors, has raised $30 million in Series B funding led by Lachy Groom. The company serves over 8,000 operations nationwide with AI-powered bookkeeping, the Ambrook Wallet for payments, and reports that connect operational data to financials. The capital will support expansion into trucking, construction, and property management.

Vertical SaaS Targets Paper-Based Operations

The timing aligns with broader shifts in farm management software and adjacent industries. Traction Ag raised $13 million across seed and Series A rounds. FarmRaise secured $7.2 million in its seed round. Ambrook's multi-industry approach addresses gaps in generic tools like QuickBooks by offering enterprise-level tracking by project, herd, or field.

Paper Systems Still Dominate Independent Businesses

Over half of multi-million dollar farm businesses continue operating on paper, creating demand for digitization. The farm management software market stands at $3.25B to $5.5B in 2026. per Mordor Intelligence and Grand View Research. Rising input costs and declining net farm income pressure margins, while regulatory needs for grants require precise record-keeping that paper cannot provide.

Full-Stack Platform Replaces QuickBooks

Ambrook combines bookkeeping with AI transaction tagging, receipt scanning, per-enterprise categorization, invoicing, bill pay, and inventory management connected directly to financials. Unlike competitors focused solely on agriculture or acting as add-ons to existing accounting, Ambrook serves as a full replacement with built-in payments. Customer stories show reductions from 12 hours per week on bookkeeping to 3 hours, and one operation secured $12 million in credit lines using its reports.

Elite Investors Back Horizontal Expansion

Lachy Groom led the round with participation from Thomson Reuters Ventures, Thrive Capital, Field Ventures, Cameron Ventures, and angels including Akshay Kothari of Notion and Guillermo Rauch of Vercel. The syndicate signals conviction in the thesis of building financial infrastructure for asset-heavy independent businesses beyond agriculture, where customer demand has already pulled the platform into trucking and construction.

Farm Management Software Market Expands Rapidly

The farm management software market is projected to reach between $5.64 billion and $19.7 billion by 2031-2033, with CAGR estimates of 11.7% to 20.1%. per market research sources. The agtech sector overall is growing from $31.9 billion in 2025 toward $121.2 billion by 2035. Ambrook's $59 million total funding positions it with significantly more capital than pure-play ag accounting competitors to pursue this growth.

Founders Bring Domain and Tech Expertise

CEO Mackenzie Burnett grew up in a USDA family and previously co-founded Redspread. Co-founders Jeff Anders (ex-Scale AI, Meta) and Dan Schlosser (ex-Google, NYT) bring product and design experience from major tech firms, supporting the company's AI-native development and customer-centric approach.

Hiring Surge Signals Aggressive Scaling

Ambrook currently lists 12 open roles across AI engineering, product, design, and sales. The company opened a Denver office and plans further hiring in New York and San Francisco to support platform expansion and AI features.
