AgZen Raises $10M Series B for Precision Spraying

AgZen raised $10M Series B led by DCVC Bio for AI sensors optimizing spray droplet coverage, cutting chemical use 30-50%. Funds expansion amid Farm Bill subsidies and Syngenta partnership.

AgZen, a U.S.-based developer of precision spraying technology, has raised $10M in Series B funding led by DCVC Bio. The company's RealCoverage system uses sensors and AI to measure droplet coverage on leaves in real-time, automatically optimizing spray parameters for 30-50% less chemicals and water. The capital will fuel commercial expansion across North America, Argentina, and Australia.

Farm Bill Subsidies Ignite Precision Ag

The timing aligns with the 2026 Farm Bill's provision reimbursing 90% of precision agriculture tech costs via EQIP per Fortune. AgZen covered 1M acres in 2025 and plans 2M+ across three continents in 2026. Strategic partnerships with Syngenta and Corteva underscore industry validation amid rising input costs.

Spray Inefficiency Wastes Billions

Foliar spraying often results in uneven droplet coverage, leading to overuse of chemicals and water. Growers report 30-50% waste reductions with RealCoverage, addressing regulatory pressures for lower pesticide use. Current solutions lack real-time feedback on leaf adhesion.

Bolt-On Sensors Optimize Coverage

RealCoverage retrofits any foliar sprayer with sensors that monitor droplets at speeds up to 18mph, using AI to adjust nozzles, pressure, and speed. Unlike selective sprayers like Greeneye Technology, which target weeds, AgZen ensures uniform coverage across fields. Twelve pilots in 2023 confirmed 30-50% improvements.

As CEO Vishnu Jayaprakash noted:

"No one’s ever seen where these droplets are actually going before."

Elite Syndicate Validates Tech

DCVC Bio, a returning investor with ag exits like Blue River to John Deere, led the round. Material Impact and Astanor Ventures joined, alongside Syngenta Group Ventures, signaling deep-tech sustainability conviction. The syndicate matches AgZen's MIT-derived droplet tech.

Justin Kern of DCVC Bio said:

"Quantifiable ROI drove our investment."

Precision Ag Market Scales Rapidly

The precision agriculture market stands at $11.67B in 2024, projected to reach $24.09B by 2030 at 13.1% CAGR per Grand View Research. Sprayers submarket grows from $3.22B to $6.06B by 2033. Competitors like DeepAgro raised $2M seed, but lack AgZen's universal bolt-on.

MIT Lab Powers Leadership Team

Co-founder Chairman Kripa Varanasi, MIT Professor, spun out five companies including LiquiGlide. CEO Vishnu Jayaprakash holds a PhD from Varanasi's lab on droplet-leaf interactions. CTO Ian James brings AI from RightHand Robotics; CRO Brian Felker scaled RoadBotics to Michelin acquisition.

Global Acreage Targets Set

AgZen eyes 2M+ acres in 2026 with RealCoverage, plus RealNutrition launch later that year and EnhanceCoverage nozzles in 2027. Deployments span major U.S. states and international markets via dealer networks. Recent Corteva agreement accelerates commercialization.
